Advice for Landlords...

Letting agents may want to ensure they are officially registered by the industry's leading regulatory body, as landlords have been advised to only use registered firms.

Daniel Pockett of Bridge Estate Agents in Aldershot warned individuals to make sure any agencies they use are officially recognised by the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (ARLA). Mr Bridges explained how individuals put themselves at risk of being left out of pocket if they rent their property through unlicensed agents.

It was suggested that in recent years there has been a rise in the number of cases of unregistered firms going into receivership and "taking clients' money with them. Letting agents that are registered with ARLA are recognised as highly trained, work to strictly controlled procedures and are members of ombudsman schemes in case anything goes wrong.

Arla has nearly 6,000 members representing 3,500 offices throughout the UK, including large multi-branch national companies and smaller single office practices.

We're happy to say that Applegate Lettings is one of them!!
