October Round Up!

After a very busy October we're pleased to say that we have lots to report! We've had one of our best months ever with lots of new houses coming on the market and 20% of those new properties being let in less than 7 days. A fantastic zero landlords withdrew their properties from our services (despite there being a £0 withdrawal fee) and the majority of new properties placed on the market by Applegate Lettings in October came from referrals and existing landlords coming back to us which is fantastic and means that we're doing our job right. We've received some great feedback from landlords with regards to our new monthly newsletter that goes out to them with a lot of useful information on letting - our landlords know that we're always here to answer any questions they may have if something comes up that we haven't already covered.

In other news, we have seen a 50% increase in landlords using our on-line letting service. Landlords are able to upload their property details directly to our website, Rightmove, Zoopla, Find a Property, Prime Location and Applegate Lettings social media pages by uploading their photographs and property description, along with EPC for just £159. We're also pleased to report that 100% of landlords requesting valuations with us for the first time chose to use Applegate Lettings as their agent after meeting with one of the team and receiving information on our services.

We've also been busy on the training front, with several team members attending a Region 25 ARLA meeting in York at the start of the month and Managing Director Amy Wray attending a 'Forward Ladies' business event in Sheffield on 12th October. Key speakers at the event included Helen Colley, founder of Farmhouse Fare; and Deidre Bounds, founder of Eye to Eye. Amy met with many other like-minded business women (and incidentally Claire Frisby from Look North which was certainly a lovely surprise!) and left feeling inspired with some super ideas that she's busy incorporating into Applegate's strategy as we speak.

Our blog updates are also becoming increasingly popular - our updates this month covered topics including the importance of properly vetting prospective tenants, the advantages of having rental agreements drawn up properly, being aware of rogue agents, why Applegate is proud to be qualified to list properties on PropertyLive.co.uk, UK rental prices increasing and highlighting the new efficiency laws that are being implemented thanks to the Energy Act 2011. We feel that by keeping our landlords and tenants as informed as possible on topics such as these, we are going that extra mile and at Applegate Lettings that's what we're all about.

Remember that if you want to receive our latest updates straight away you can subscribe to Applegate Lettings' RSS Feed. With posts relevant to both landlords and tenants, updates on legislation, general advice or just updates on what's going on at the Applegate office, you never know when we may post something that'll be of interest to you. Wishing you all a happy November and we'll be back next month with more Applegate news!
