Good Press for Applegate

Recent bad press has indicated that complaints against lettings agents are rising. Here at Applegate our excellent reputation and customer service is demonstrating otherwise – and we have the results to prove it!
According to The Telegraph, Landlords are being stung with hidden charges and inflated costs by agents that arrange property servicing and maintenance work through contractors, according to industry insiders.
The Government are now proposing to make it compulsory for all lettings agents to sign up to approved “redress schemes” by the end of the year, of which Applegate Properties are already members of. Until now lettings agents do not have to belong to any such scheme. Under the Government’s proposals agents will have to join one of three schemes: The Property Ombudsman, Ombudsman Services Property or The Property Redress Scheme.
There are 1.4million private landlords in the UK and with the rising market for rental properties we agree that something rigid should be put in to place to eradicate the rouge traders.
Applegate Properties are currently one of the very few agents in the area to be members of the Property Lettings Ombudsman and ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents). Alongside this, all our staff members are fully trained and qualified to offer excellent customer service. Currently over 70% of our new business each month comes from existing client referrals – now that is something to shout about!
