ARLA Regional Meeting Report From Applegate

Feedback from the Regional ARLA meeting:-

Amy Wray and Laura Everitt visited the Marriot Hotel in York for the ARLA regional meeting earlier this month. Guest speakers were Ian Potter, Director of ARLA and Alison MacDougall from Tenancy Deposit Scheme – TDS.
As usual, the updates from Ian were very useful, both Laura and Amy came away with new in house procedures and suggested changes for some of Applegate’s procedures. Recent case law and future legislation are often discussed at the regional meeting and this really does help the letting agents who attend keep a step ahead in this complex business and ensures they offer their landlords and tenants with the most up to date advice.
Alison from the Tenancy Deposit Scheme discussed recent and most common cases arising in bond disputes and provided hints and tips with regards to the creation of the initial inventory and check out reports. As a qualified MAPIP (Member of the Association of Professional Inventory Providers), Laura was pleased that Applegate already create extremely high quality inventories and little alterations were required within these procedures. Carole from Citi Lets spoke about managing maintenance efficiently and shared with the 70+ attendees the new systems that they have put in place to ensure tenants can report issues as accurately as possible.
Overall another successful 2-3 hours and as always definitely worth the trip to the wonderful city of York.
