Yorkshire and Humberside Lettings Focus
Over the last few years, the number of people wishing to rent rather than buy a home 
has grown enormously. Recent figures suggest that home ownership has fallen to its 
lowest level since 1987, while the number of households in rented accommodation 
has almost doubled.
Here are the latest statistics we can report for the lettings industry in Yorkshire and the 
Humberside Region:-

Income
Tenants in Yorkshire & Humberside currently earn on average £23,000 per annum after 
their income increased in the last 12 months by 5.6%.
36% of the tenants’ income is currently spent on rent Yorkshire and Humberside region.
Tenant age 
The average age of tenants in Yorkshire and the Humberside is 32. This is 3.8% lower than
the national average.
Employment 
There has been a 0.7% increase in the percentage of unemployed tenants moving into a new 
rented home in the region.
Rents 
Average rents are at their lowest amount since June 2012, after lowering by 3.6% during
January to £557 per month.
